Spectatorship Key Terms

Interpellation =  the drawing in of the spectator inside the film ("stitched in ").
Hegemony of western film = the dominant Hollywood rules.
Passive Spectator = emotionally invests themselves in the film (surrenders)
Active Spectator = having to think about whats happening and often deconstructs the film.
Alignment = we support and align with a fictionl character. We usually align with the Hero.
Affective Response = an emotional or physical response to the film
Intellectual Response = a critical or analytical response to the film
